Shocking! Astronomers Just Found the Tightest 4-Star System Ever Observed
Astronomers have discovered one of the most compact quadruple star systems ever observed using NASA’s TESS telescope. What first appeared to be a simple binary star turned out to be a complex 3+1 hierarchical system where three stars orbit extremely close together while a fourth star circles them from farther away. Scientists believe the inner stars may eventually merge, leaving behind two orbiting white dwarfs in the distant future. Credit to: NASA Space News
