Earth Has a Mini Moon. We Just Saw It for the First Time

Earth has a second moon. Sort of. It’s called Kamo’oalewa, it’s been quietly pacing our planet around the Sun for about a century, and we only discovered it in 2016. Now China’s secretive Tianwen-2 spacecraft has arrived at this so-called quasi-moon and sent home the first close-up photo ever taken of it — and that blurry image has already thrown the mission’s boldest plan into doubt.
