This week in robotics was packed with breakthroughs. In China, Unitree unveiled the H2 — a full-sized humanoid robot with a lifelike face and smooth, human-like movement. In South Africa, a new teaching robot named IRIS became the country’s first AI tutor able to teach in all eleven official languages. Over in Dubai, DEEP Robotics showed off advanced robot dogs at the GITEX Global tech fair, while Chinese police started testing AI-powered patrol dogs in Hangzhou. And in one viral story, a six-year-old girl cried over her broken AI companion — a reminder of how emotionally connected people are becoming to machines.
